Cherry Punch Recipe

Here’s a classic Christmas cherry punch recipe that’s both festive and refreshing:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 4 cups orange juice
  • 1 (46 oz.) can pineapple juice
  • 1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries with juice
  • 2 liters ginger ale, chilled

  1. Make a sugar syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Set aside to cool completely.

  2. Combine juices and fruit: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the cooled sugar syrup, orange juice, pineapple juice, maraschino cherries, and cherry juice. Stir well to mix.

  3. Chill and add soda: Refrigerate the punch for at least an hour, or until well chilled.

  4. Serve: When ready to serve, add the chilled ginger ale to the punch. Adjust the ratio of juice mixture to ginger ale to your preference (a typical range is 2:1 to 1:1).

  • For a fun garnish, freeze some maraschino cherries and orange slices ahead of time and add them to the punch bowl just before serving.
  • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the ginger ale and add more orange juice or club soda.
  • Want to add a little extra sparkle? Top each serving with a splash of grenadine for a layered effect.
